Can I make a custom sign at workshop?
No. Sadly this cannot be done. Custom work is extremely time consuming - trust me you'd be here til 2am. Please share your custom ideas with me and if it is feasible I would be happy to create it for you!
What time should I arrive at my class?
You are welcome to arrive 15-20 minutes before the scheduled time of your workshop. It is helpful to come early so that you can browse paint colours and stain options. You will begin painting as soon as you are ready.
How long is a workshop?
Workshops are typically 2 hours in length. However, this greatly depends on the intricacy and number of the signs chosen. It also depends on the speed with which the participant works. Naturally some work faster than others.
What should I wear?
Painting is not clean work! Please dress down as acrylic paint and stain do not come out of clothes.
Can I choose my sign when I come?
Sign choices need to be made ahead of time and submitted through the online form so that we can ensure we have the correct wood cut and sanded for you.
Where are you located?
Our address is 3436 Rittenhouse Road. The shop is the white and green building to the right of the U-shaped driveway.
Where should I park?
Please feel free to park in the driveway. Don't worry about blocking someone in, we can always move vehicles if needed. There is also parking on the North side of the street. There are no parking signs on the South side of the street and cars are often ticketed there.
How can I pay?
Cash or cheque are preferred. However, Visa and Mastercard can be accepted as well. A 3% fee applies.
What is the difference between MDF, real wood and pallet style boards?
MDF is medium density fibreboard. It is heavier and much less expensive than real wood. It is a very durable surface and completely smooth. If you are not interested in seeing the wood grain through the paint, this is a great option. Real wood is common pine. It is a lovely option if you want to see the wood grain or knots through the paint in your finished product. Pallet style means that we use several planks of pine together to make the correct size board for your stencil. If you are painting a 12x12 or 12x24 stencil in the real wood option, it will be rough sawn pine. The surface is quite grainy and this is the only type of pine that we can get in 12" wide.
Can I book a private workshop?
Absolutely! Once you have a group of 6-8 people, send me an email and I would be happy to work with you to find a date that works to host your group.
Can I smoke on the property?
Thank you for asking! We are a non-smoking property. Thank you for your co-operation!
Please email me any other questions that you may have! I am happy to help!
